Default My car won't turn off?

After I turn the key off, the engine keeps turning over... poorly, but turning over nonetheless. It does it a couple of times then decides to die... any idea what's going on?

Yeah, it's called deiseling, and it's usually caused by too much ignition timing

Its not the timing. When the ignition is off, there is absolutely ZERO spark still going down the wires. Your carb is probably idling too high, or running rich. Most likely the idle.

+ 1,

And sometimes engines with compression ratios aproaching the upper limits for the pump gas being used will diesel. Sometimes engines can develop "hot spots" in the cumbustion chamber, sometimes these hot spots can be eliminated by using a "colder" sparkplug.
