Great w-e until tonight ... need advice
Here are two pictures:
[ul][*]1st one shows my fuel filter, looks pretty new, was installed by the previous owner; he also installed a new fuel tank[*]2nd one shows the carb without the air filter - the interesting thing is that you can see the red paste at different locations that must have been used by the prior owner - I do not know if he just did that to fix old gaskets or if he used it when he installed new ones -> I am thinking some of this stuff could have shedded into the carb ... crazy thought? anyway tomorrow I'll stop by MU or Autozone to pick up a rebuild kit.[/ul]

yep
there should not be any gasket goo on your carb at all. that is a distinctly likely contributor to your problem!
I would swap out the fuel filter just the same...cheap insurance. He may have replaced the tank but not the fuel lines. All would eventually clear with regular use.

We had a carb one time that the PO had used gasket sealer on ,turned out the baseplate was bent and he was trying to seal it up.We put a new carb on it and it ran like a champ.Just one thing to think about. If the PO used sealer there may be other problems with the carb. While you have it off it might pay to have the baseplate and bowls checked to see if they arebent.
Probably not the problem but you never know
Jeff
