Need to know a good supplier of sheet metal
Question is pretty simple. I was wondering where to find GOOD sheet metal. I was looking at NPD but heard that they have the cheap crappy stuff. Now i was thinking of calling Don's auto in Jacksonville,FL (I live in Minneapolis,MN) and getting some off of a car they have. I know my cousins whom are helping me with my project, who have fully restored a Nova,Stingray Corvette and almost finished a 1st gen Firebird, said that some of the repo stuff for the cars doesn't even have the correct body lines not to mention the original gauge of steel. Right now i'm leaing towards having don's send me the sheet metal, but i'd like some opinons. the sheet metal i need would be the rear quarters, full wheel wells, tail light panel, driver door skin and trunk lid. i know the skin is going to be fun to find as i found a passenger side already
so i'm looking forward to hearing peps speak up about their experiences with sheet metal.

Your 'hearsay' information about the quality of NPD is bogus. There are two levels of parts, those made with 'original tooling' as Steven (mustube) posted and the cheap stuff. Many stores sell both. Don't get confused, almost all the sheet metal is made by the same one or two companys and sold by a lot of mail order stores. The same goes for the cheap stuff. However, in your case, look for a donor car for your needs. The materials used by Ford originally are still the best, plus, in most cases, you will have less cutting and welding with whole rear sections.

For nice flat sheets of metal, hit up a junkyard and buy some old hoods. They make great patch material, I like the 73-82 GM trucks, because they have a flat hood, are plentiful and often rust out at the front of the hood. making it a cheap or free part.
I have purchased sheet metal fromNPD and never had any problemsNorthcoast Mustang and CJ pony are also good suppliers of sheet metal parts and their prices are a little better.Your best bet would be to find a donor car, good luck with it.
Thanks guys, yeah i've looked into donor cars and if i purchaced the parts from npd i would end up significantly cheaper than what i would expect to find a donor...also i would be worried about the rust factor on the donor cuz i've had a problem with the doors already. thanks again guys for you help
