Default Body Work

Ihave a '65, needs some minor rust repair on the rear fender wells and on the bottom of the doors. I got a qoute of 3500 to replace the metal, replace the front windshield, reseal the rear window, reallignthe doors, hood and deck lid, take out all dings, and primer (Pretty much everything but paint). Just wanted to get someones opinion on whether or not that was a good price.

well if you are deployed then you probably wont have time to do it all yourself correct? it doesnt sound that bad to me but get a couple of quotes and see if it is a good deal

FWIW, I have a '65 fastback with no rust, but typical dings for a 40+ year old car. My costs are:

$550 to completely blast the exterior of the car

$350 to epoxy prime, including both sides of trunk deck and hood as well as removing and spraying doors & jambs

$2500 minimize all dings and small dents with block and hammer, minimizing body filler. Block sand, finish prim coat, sanding, etc. (basically everything to get it ready to pain)

$1200 est. to paint the vehicle using a base/clear, including sanding, polishing, etc. The final cost will be determined after materials are chosen.

These are L.A. prices so labor may be cheaper in your area. That said, considering the sheet metal repairs, it sounds like yours is in the ballpark.

Good luck!
Jeff
