Doctors?....Mechanics!!!
I have a problem with the docs who dont fix you. They let you linger with whatever it is so they can continue to get the office visit money until you wise up and hit the emeregency room. Then the Hospital hits you for an exorbitant amount of money for little stuff. Like $26 for two asprin for an example. Thank God I have a VA doc now and i dont have to deal with the civilian quacks who are only out to make a buck at my expense. Now I go in, I get it fixed. If the meds dont work they get me some that do work and it doesnt take two years of being on the meds before they change something.
My last civilian doc had me in his office 5 times in ten days. $80 a pop just to have him say "There is nothing wrong with you" while I couldnt breathe, my throat was swelled up so bad I couldnt swallow anything, even water, and my lungs were burning if I took anything other than a short breath. Yeah there is nothing wrong with me, right. Take some tylenol. right. I have many more health issues now and they are all taken care of effectively because I dont pay for it, the VA does. Nobody is fleecing me when I am sick.
On top of that I was running my own shop at the time. When I wasnt there I wasnt making money. I sat in his wiating room for 3 hours after my appointment time on two of those occassions. Where was he? Golfing on one day and at lunch the other. I sent him a bill for my lost time, so they upped my bill too.
If mechanics ran the shop that way, how many people would come back? That knocking sound? Nah its nothing. That grinding noise when you step on the brakes, dont worry about it. It still doesnt idle right and dies everytime you stop? Well bring it back in and I will do the same thing I did last time that didnt fix it.
Its more than just looking at a computer and figuring out what is wrong. The computer will tell you how much voltage the sensors are using/passing along, it wont tell you if there is a rod hanging out the side of the block, or a valve that is burned. It wont tell you where the vacuum leak is. It wont tell you why there is no spark, no fuel pump power, and no injector pulse when its a no start. It wont tell you the wheel bearing is almost gone. These are things you have to know how to diagnose and repair without a computer.
Mechanics have to know about multiple models of imports, domestics, and trucks from all of the manufacturers. Think about how many different models Ford alone has, then consider the Asian cars, all the models they have, then GM, and Dodge, then figure in European cars. Then think about how different one from 1950 is than one from 1976, and how much is the same with one from 2006. Of course if you know nothing about cars, you dont know that there is very little that is the same from model to model and year to year.
Doctors have two models. Male and Female. Age has some different wear items on those two, but for the most part, they are the same even if its a 1950 model or a 1982 model. Yes a human is more complicated than a car, but that gap is narrowing fast.
Still there is no reason why a Doc cant diagnose, treat, and cure a simple ailment, especialy when its very curable and a common malady.
Mechanics have to fix it the first time you take it there, or they are complete morons and they cant do anything right. If it comes back, then the repair is free. If a Doc doesnt fix it, its another office visit charge.
No I dont care for the vast majority of Physicians Assistants that proclaim to be docs, then the ones who simply pass all the classes and become an MD rather than a surgeon or specialist. Throw in the elitist arrogant attitude and its no wonder I have vile contempt for them. Particularly when I diagnose my own problem, tell them what it is, and they tell me I dont know anything. In the end I was right quite often and they would skirt the real problem as long as they could.
My VA Doc rocks. I feel for all of you who will have to deal with the quacks out there.
