Default Radiator Support

Would anyone happen to know what the number 304 on the radiator support means, if anything? Was it put there at the factory, and therefore need to be preserved during the restoration, or added later in the car's life, and free to be painted over?

That could be the sequence number from the assembly line. What is the second character of your VIN?

The warranty number is 7F01T124xxx and the VIN is 65A -- 2U 22L 347873 2 W. I didn't notice anything in there with an obvious relationship to the 304, but then again you folks probably have a lot more information on that than I.

It's a Dearborn built car and there may be a metal tag, called a buck tag, attached somewhere near the battery with your VIN number plus a lot of other letters and numbers. In the upper right corner is the sequence number. That's about it. Metuchen used buck tags, San Jose did not.
