START COIL GETTEN HOT!!
ok when i crank the motor over in my 67 302, the coil's terminal from the battery gets hot and some times smokes, also when i move the + wire from the bat the coil terminal (guts) mover and a pinging noise is made over in a box near the horn... any ideas??
You don't give very much info here. You also don't say if the engine starts or not. You also don't even say if it cranks or not.
If it does not crank I suspect that you have the two small wires at the starter relay switched.
If that doesnt work send me an e-mail with a complete description of what's going on and I will try to help.

the motor has just been put back in.. its just been recon, and yes it cranks.. but im only trying to turn it over not ready to start it yet, every thing seems to work wright sept for the smoke and the terminal getting hot... and wen its not doing any thing the wen you mover the terminal the guts of the coil move and, wat i think is a contact pings near the horn..
In the start mode, you are putting 12VDC into the coil direct. In the running mode, the voltage is reduced to 6 to 8 volts and that's what the coil is rated at. If you are simply turning the engine over to get oil pressure or a sanity check, disconnect the lead at the solenoid to the coil then crank it over.

Is the "coil" that you are talking about actually the starter solenoid? The soleniod will be on the passenger fenderwell. If so, it sounds like the connections to the solenoid are either loose, the cable ends are bad, or the solenoid is broken internally.
