Default Carburator Question

A simple question, one i would normally use my shop manual for, but since a friend of mine borrowed mine i will try and ask it here.

I recently bought an edelbrock carburator with automatic choke for my 289 V8 (66 coupe). The automatic choke has 2 connectors a + and a - one.
The negative one goes to the starting relais, but where does the red wire go to ? Does it go to the positive side of the starting relais ?

Hope one of you guys can help me out with this.

Thanks
Mike

the - should be grounded right to the carb itself, there is no need to run wiring for that.
the + should be hooked to any 12v power source that comes on when the key is in the on position (it should shut off when you turn the car off)

So the left side from the starting relay is a good hookup, since this gets power from the battery directly, right ?

No, you need something that will be off when the key is off. Look in the fusebox for something like the radio fuse.

I just bought the same carb, if you still have the original fuse box, there is slot that has "ACC" marked above it. Just run the end of the red wire into that. You will have to use a piece of extra wire to get the length you need. That is the correct place to pull power from.

Doesn't the ACC wire go to the starting relay ?

In the accessory position everything is the same except no voltage is sent to the coil, so no burned out points.

Hook your electric choke up to the "I" post on the solenoid. Where have you guys been, under a rock?

Hornblower,
The 'I' post on the solenoid being what? And it provides 'switched' voltage?

Look between your two + posts on the solenoid and you will see an I post. It's slightly below them.
