Default RE: Intake manifold question....

Generally the Stealth is quite widely held to be possibly the best "all around" intake. An Action plus is a bit more suited to someone who willactually hita racetrack but mostly drives on the street. I may be guilty of acting like I'm on a racetrack but I never actually go. Therefore a Stealth suits me just fine. I've had the pleasure of driving a couple of cars built to perform on the dragstrip at the expense of street manners. Perfectly good cars but not really enjoyable to drive around. Some people like them that way though. An Action Plus isn't really that extreme, it's just that so many folks over the years have "overbuilt" their engines and then wondered why they don't perform all that well.

GypsyR have you ever considered running for a political position?

Well my car is a daily driver....I'm in college, and I really want something that will perform but at the same time will not kill my mileage. So 67mustang302, your saying that the new Action Plus (8142) would be best? Thanks for the replys...

For a performance oriented street car, and something that needsdecent mileage, yeah. It's not a big manifold but it's not too small either, remember, they only list it as idle-5,500rpm which is a stock rpm range manifold. I'm putting out something around 360-370hp at the flywheeland get about25mpg on the highway, though admittedly I also have highway gearing and do a lot of highway driving, and lightweight internals(read, expensive internals, almost $1,000 just in the pistons and rods). If you don't have a fire breather that turns over 6 grand to make power, but still want some performance with decent economy, the 8124 will work nice. Just don't put a big carburetor on it, that'll kill milage as well as throttle response. I'm running a 570cfm Street Avenger

go for the action plus (not the action +plus)

i thought the stealth intakes weer comparable to the edelbrock performer and the action plus's were on par with the performer rpms (only better)

Yeah, the Action Plus(8124) is the new one, the Action +Plus is the old one. As far as the Stealth, they list it as idle-6,000 for SBF but the Stealth for other engines is listed as 1,500-6,700, and the new Action Plus is listed as idle-5,500. I was under the impression the Stealth was the bigger of the 2, though I could be wrong. I know the new AP(8124) makes power everywhere and drives really nice though

you were supposed to get the ap not the a+p

LOL

(btw i looked at the stealth and say that it ran up higher in the rpm range than the ap, but the ap LOOKS like it would be a higher revver, the stealth looks too low pro to be a high rpm breather)

Well I never saw a regular Action Plus, from my research I'll most likely be happier w/ the Action +Plus.
