Which Spark plugs work well?
I am going to put new plugs in when a calibrate my carb next weekend and I was wondering if anyone has a "great" plug that works well and is cost effective. I have a 289 with an Edelbrock 600cfm, performer 289 intake, mild cam, hipo exhaust manifold and pertronix ignition.
after going with platnum, double platnum, superduper quintuple platnum - i realized that standard copper core autolites work better than all of em. talk to a few local shops, they will tell you autolites beat out bosch, ac delco, ngk, or anyone elses plugs
i was surprised at the answer, but hey - these plugs are cheap so its a win win situation!

- It's whatever works for you but on other cars, specifically aVW 2180cc engines, a colder plug worked better. Keep in mind, the VW isa 133 CID 4 cylinder, air cooled, aluminum block (case), 11.0:1 compression ratio, a pair of 48 IDA Webbers. Not a normal engine.
-The plugs that I've had little sucess using on Fords have been Champion, NGK and Bosch. AC plugs worked fairly well, but I'll stick with Autolite or Motorcraft.

I am not sure why Champions are reltated to GM engines, but that's what I remember the bow tie factories putting in them. The aftermarket NKG or what ever may be good for certain applications, but I have found that for my application with a fairly hot Ford engine that the B-45's are just perfect. For some reason, theheat range is just right. I guess if I toned it down some, the 42's would be more in line to use.
