Production question
My 68 coupe had a scheduled assembly date of July 1, 1968. I need to purchase some new body pards (IE: quarter panel) and there are slight differences based on the production date. I can buy either "early" or "late" model parts. My question is a July 1 assembly date considered "early" or "late"?
I think it is considered as a late production as they stopped production of the 68 mustang in the following month of August. A few 69's were started in the same month of July and full productions of 69’s were in August of 68.

MY friend and i had a simillar discussion on late, and early production dates because my 67 is a early and his is late, almost a year apart. and we foudn that if the car was built in the same year as the car says (meaning if its a 19'67 musatng and was produce in march of '67) then it is a late, but if its bult the year before its an early model ( meaning if its a '67 it was built in novermber of '66.) just a rule of thumb that we go by.
It is kind of funny, in the 70's I owned a 67 and a 68 coupe and never knew there was a early or a late version of those cars. I restored the 68 in 1979, then sold it (We called it " fixing it up" back then). I never came across any problems with earty or late model.
Does any know what some of the differences were?
Thanks in advance

Really the only differences in the body were the early model 68 had a side marker REFLECTOR on the rear quarter that stuck out from the body about 3/16 inch or so. On the late model 68, it had a flush mounted side marker LIGHT.
