Drum to disk upgrade kit question
Hey all,a while back someone gave me a link to CSRP for a drum to disk brake upgrade kit. I have since then found VENOM. They have similar kits, but more performance stuff and more expensive...plus they do a rear disk conversion too! Has anyone out there had dealing with either of these companies. I'm trying to build my car to be fun, but not a major hot rod, nor will I be racing etc. Which is the bigger bang for the buck and any other suggestions will be appreciated

what wheel size are you running.
generally speaking, bigger the rotor better the stopping, but wheel size limits this.
in my experience, if you are going to stay with 14 or 15" wheels, the best you can do is slotted rotors and some higher performing pads. Drilled rotors are for motorbikes and show.
if you go 16" wheels and up you can get some serious stopping power.
post the links to the 2 kits you are looking at and you'll get more responses.
good luck

I've been looking at the Venom rear discs as well. Unlike the others I've seen, they appear to use Explorer type rear brakes that have an integral parking brake drum instead of the pads. I have these brakes on my Jeep TJ and the parking brake works really well. I am curious how they handle the parking brake cables. Buy it and let me know how it works!
Well, I am not familiar with the venom discs - but I just upgrated from non power drums to power disc on the front, just the typicalgranada swap and it makes a huge difference ... simply night and day ... so it goes back to what you want to do with the car . .. I'd say if you just want to ride and enjoy the car, just sporty driving but nothing more, go with the granada swap inthe front andkeep the drums in the rear (you can rebuild them if needed) ... this way you minimize the investment but the difference, as I said, is big ... just my 2 cents ...
ask bigvalley i believe he has explorer rear disc i kinda like mustang steves brakes or break down and get some wilwoods.cheapest front disc kit id use is http://www.mpbrakes.com/ rear is easy just google search which ever rear end you have and disc brake kit.
