Ive been having problems with my E-Brake, Sometimes it sticks and does not like to release should i just try to disasemble the whole thing and will i need to remove the dash to do so?

 

I assume it's a Mustang, you forgot to tell us that, and I assume it could be a 70 Mach I as in your profile, so if that's the case, you don't need to dismember the dash. There are 3 bolts that hold the assembly to the quarter. The return springs are in the rear drums and one on the cable end that comes from the pedal. I would think that an accumulation of crud in the cable housings is the main problem. Cleaning them is a good idea, how, get a service manual.

UrbanCowboy (John) came over to the house a few days back, and he was having a problem getting his ebrake to engage fully. After crawling around under his 69 Mach, I discovered that the cable was rubbing against the driver's side floor pan. He said that is how it has always been. Might want to check on how to get away from the floor pan if that is your problem too. However, Jim is probably right about crud and mud and other foreign materials in the cable housing preventing it from operating smoothly. If it was mine, I would take it all apart, clean and lubricate it and put it back together. Nice weekend project.
