you can get the ones that lock instead of the ones with the cables. Those serve a function on metal hoods! I have some waiting to be installed.

Slamming the hood down may work, but if you want to be more careful. Mount the pin, make sure it hits in the right spot where you want it to stick thru. Dob some bright colored paint on the tip of the pin and close it easy. That is your drill mark. A "Vari Bit" works great for this.

I have been looking at the flush monted locking pins for my car. My question for you all is do the wires rub your paint from the wind of driving? I have seen many cars paint jobs ruined by the bras on cars rubbing the paint down and it looks like the cable would be beating up the front of your car.

The only flush type I can think of did not have any cables. The Shelby type cables were plastic covered and stiff. They did not seem to move around.

I know the flush mounted locks dont have cables. I was just curious if the cables were rubbing the paint raw.

IMO, it's bad form to use hood pins if you don't need them. With a metal hood, I can't figure out why you'd need them.

They were a requirement for racing.

you mean like these....the factory hoods were modified to fit them on our cars (GT and GS Falcons from 1970-75). Did they use these factory on any mustangs?

The reason i'm going to use them on my metal hood is because 1. The PO already partially drilled the holes and 2. I bought locking hood pins to lock my hood which will protect theifs from trying to steal stuff off my engine and keep them from cutting my alarm if it goes off.
