Default Inaugural drive...

Took the mustang on it's inaugural drive last night

Didn't run into any problems; All the lights/blinkers worked, I was told the brighter headlights modification made them look brand new . I took the curviest road I could find so I could see what all the hubbub is about "no power steering is soooo difficult." Psshhh! It was nothing, easy as cake. Now, i will say it sure was hard to park on the curb w/o a right side mirror! Oh well.

But overall, the car ran fantastic, and having a car full of girls pull up next to me "ooo"ing and "ahh"ing sure was nice, even if the girlfriend in the passenger seat didn't think so

thanks for all the help so far for getting me this far! so much more to come ...

Congrats on the ride! As for lack ofpower steering, I don't know of anybody who complains about it while cruising down the road. I thought it sucked while parking, turning corners, shifting while turning at slow speeds or quick evasive manuevers at slow speeds (parking lots).

Enjoy!

Congratulations! As for the manual steering, I don't see it as a problem, it's just one less thing that can go wrong.

You will cherish that night forever. I can remember the maiden voyage in Ol' Yeller 12 years ago. I have a 65 and don't need power steering even while parking, but I can see how the 67 and up guys would need one. Especially if they have a fire breathing big assed V8 up front.

In germany I had a 86 bmw 325 with no power steering. And now my mustang has no power. As long as the car isnt a tank, I prefer the manual steering. Plus, it is a small amount of exercise daily

When I was stationed in Germany I had a 316. The Krauts didn't export them to the states, so you aren't going to see anything below a 318 here. That little stripped down 4 banger would keep up with the big boys on the autobahn though. No air, no power anything. I really miss that simplicity. I think we Americans are just too spoiled to go back to the little 4 banger cars that run like striped apes.
