Default 1970 Transmissions

Okay, I'm in the market for a 1970 mustang coupe. I really want it to come with a manual transmission, but it seems to me that they are very rare! Curious to know from all you mustang historians... they made around 96,000 coupes that year (including grandes), does anybody know how many of these came with a manual transmission? Why are they so hard to find?

Bercause they got crushed. That was the beginning of the oil crunch.

Are you saying that owners didn't keep them because they got worse gas mileage than an automatic?... I don't know, there's plenty of 64-68 mustangs with manual transmissions...
