What's the condition of the motor? If it is low miles or recently rebuilt, you would prob get a good bang for your buck with a package of heads, carb, manifold, mild cam, etc. - I am not suggesting edelbrock, but their site gives you a good idea of what's available sothat you can narrow down specifics on components.

If it has not been rebuilt, get a complete rebuild. Might have to go with stock heads to cover cost of rebuild and associated parts.

My suggestions in a nutshell. I am sure the guys here will provide a host of opinions on specifics. A well balanced set up is your best bet, and if you are selective, do-able within your budget.

Good luck.
