Default Wrong color yeller

The shop called me today and told me the Tower paint I bought was the wrong color, so I had to go to San Marcos to get another pint thatis theright shade. Here is the handywork of the body shop. He does great work. It is Tower paint's problem of giving me PPG # 81467 instead of #81510. The body guy is going to spray her today, then hit it with clearcoat in a day or two then she will be ready.

That sucks! Yours is Springtime Yellow? I don't see the listing forthecode they sent you by mistake. Are you certain that they used the correct paint mix when you originally had it repainted, and if so, could the aging of the vehicle have any effect on the color matching? The reason I ask is because I'm contemplating getting extra paint canned for me in case :gulp: something happens to mine in the future.

Other than the color, it looks like it is coming along nicely.[8D]

Bill, the owner of the shop was so apologetic, but I assured him it was not his fault. He did a fantastic job for the repair and it is Tower paint's problem for sending the wrong shade. He said he would spray it again with the right color for no extra charge. He's a good guy and it's hard to find this quality of workmanship these days at the low prices he charges. We have been having record rainfall here in central Texas for the last month or so, but his business has almost come to a stop. Usually during rainy weather you get a lot of wrecks, but not here. Strange......

That is strange. We've had barely 3" of rain in the last 13 months here in L.A. andI'm told business isslow also. That is really cool of the guy to re-spray it for you on his nickel.

Jeff PPG has the codes that match all of the Ford colors, and they are all in the computer system. What I found out today is that if you take a part of the car in (I took off the trunk lid) a good PPG Paint company can match it perfectly no matter how old the paint is. I don't know for sure if the restoration I had done 12 years ago used Code 8 Springtime yellow or not. They should have, but I wouldn't swear to it. Anyway, the PPG numbers is what you go by. And thereare also the M numbers. 1965 Code 8 Springtime yellow is M-32J1955A

Don't buy extra paint it goes bad over time, it does have a shelf life. Just keep the lable which has the tint amounts on it.

There is a slight chance it got painted meadowlark yellow instead of springtime yellow. In any case, the body work on it looks great Glen. From the pic it looks like no defects at all! Nice work on their part, glad to hear the paint thing will be straightened out without a problem.

take care!
