Toploader shifter boot
Ok, so we got all the parts to put the sterring back together as well as a few other goodies, including a new shifter boot. This boot is for the OEM 4 speed shifter on a toploader. The problem now comes to....HOW do ya get the darned thing on????? I've thought about trying to slip it on over the bottom mount lugs, but that means that the shaft holehas to be stretched about an inch or so (dont sound too feesible). It doesnt look like it will go over the top of the shaft...theres that pesky reverse lock out bar. So, I'm pickin brains now.....how do ya get it on without tearing it apart?
Place the boot in the hot sun (you still get that big ball of fire in the sky now and then don't you) and when it's really soft andflexible, stretch it to fit over the top - carefully.

After a decade of drought, the 'Good ol' Boys' in Texas got a years worth of rain in a month. The 'eyes of Texas' may be upon you, but the sun has passed them by. On the other hand, we here in Silicon Valley have a bit of fog in the morning and sunshine in the afternoon, just the right combination to heat up a rubber boot to fit over a four speed shifter's lock out lever.
