possible project, just a few questions
Ok all so i am new to this site, usually im in the ford truck forums because thats what me and my dads daily drivers are but anyways, we have a 98 mustang we are going to sell and are looking to buy an older classic one more than likely a 65 or 66 because weve seen a couple ones we like, he used to have an old one so he knows how to work on these and we are trying to get one with a decent body, anyways my point is he likes the 289s (he had one in his 65 fastback T-5 which from what i hear is extremly rare, the T-5 model) it was bored to 302 and he loved it, but ive got a buddy with a nova with a 350 and its hot, and i want to be able to show him how us ford boys roll, so im hoping to get a 351 in there (possibly bigger if yall can help with some questions) just wondering if anyone has a 351 or bigger in these cars (coupe probably) is it a crate engine or what, how hard is it to get the engine in there, also ive seen alot of 347 crate engines, how would this engine work in a car like that, i want to be streel legal for the most part, and be able to run on pump gas but i still want to be able to get some high hp numbers going. I would love to hear of anyone whos done something like this as im sure theres alot of you, Very sorry for the long post just wanted to give a little info, Thanks guys and idea or comments or anything at all would be appreciated!
yeah he said it was a real T-5, he didnt know what it was when he got it and neither did the guy he bought it off of and he had it at the dealership one day and they started gettin real excited about it, he loved that car, with a few mods back in the day ive heard stories of him whoopin on vettes
in a 65/66 a 351c and 351w are a tight fit but fit anything bigger like a fe or 460 you gotta cut the shock towers.look around at 351w stroker kits world has a 460 small block thats based off a 351w. you sure it was a t5 not a toploader or t10.
