There was once an original removable hardtop in the DFW area. It was one of the original hardtops (seems only 70+ were ever made). The car used to be shown in the DFW area shows, but I haven't seen it in over ten years. It was a 1966 Springtime Yellow vert, if I recall.
Best,
Al

barnett468…
Don't know just yet.
Back in 2000 I was offered 5 grand for it from a Mustang parts dealer in NJ.
Gotta figure if they bought it for that much they'd have to sell it for more right?
It is an original prototype top.
Only 100 were made... 3 are left
Mine is the only one left with the original rear window.
Even Donald Farr told me it's a rare piece of Mustang history.
I guess I could put a price on it but it always depends on how much someone is willing to spend.
I found the company who made these tops and the son is interested in it.
His dad made them when he was a boy and he remembers them very well.

hi

i would try to sell it to him or try ebay then. you are highly unlikely to get someone off of a mustang site to buy it for that price.

The deeper I dig the more I find out how rare these tops really are. I have confirmed mine is one of the originals because it does have the CarLite stamp etched on the window. The TowneTops did not use a Ford rear window. You never know what feedback you might get from somebody who's associated with a website. I haven't come up with a price yet in my head but I do know this... it will be fair to the buyer and myself whenever, if ever this top sells. I'm going to a Ford sponsored car show next weekend here on Long Island. I understand Ford will be there so I'm going to bring it and see if anybody there can have anything to say about it.
On another note my car won first in class at a car show I took it to yesterday. It's the second first place trophy I've won.

Cool, always thought it was a Corvette/Thunderbird thing. Doesn't look all that bad on a Mustang either!
