what steps do i need to take in order to remove the engine from my fastback. ive already disconnected all the coolant hoses. how many bolts hold up the engine to the mounts just as a reference so i'll know i got all of them.
thanks

the engine 2 bolts i believe but you gotta remove the tranny or remove the tranny crossmember and pull it with the engine.you got some wires vaccum lines power steering lines if you have it.the exhaust the hood its a big job just do it slowy because if you forgot a wire or a ground strap it will snap while pulling it.

Check out this link from Mustang Forums very own FAQ.....

http://www.carcraft.com/howto/1005/

There are two bolts on each side of the engine that physically hold the mounts to the engine, but I have never pulled aV8 out of a Mustang before,,, so I am not sure if these four bolts are accesable when using stock mounts, but I think they should be...

These four 7/16bolts (need 5/8 socket)will point straight up to the sky, find them under the car at the center of each side of the engine. Remove them and the motor will be loose from its mounts..

Actually, Mustang Forums had nothing to do with the FAQ except host it for me.

None of you guys have been on here long enough to remember when the FAQ got started. When I first became the mod a few years ago, the top section was empty basically, and I started putting single articles up there that related to the most asked about questions. Well, after awhile, the top section became almost an entire page. So, to clean up the top, I combined all those frequently asked questions into the FAQ that you enjoy today. Since then, it has grown to what it is today and is still a work in progress.
Which reminds me.........the top is getting crowded again so I will eliminate a few things up there.

I know,,,, but I didn't want anyone to think I was kissing up, so I left it at "Mustang Forums"!!!

I thank you for your time and effort in the construction of the FAQ,,, I have used it many, many times..., and on occasion I even go through it just to learn about or read about nothing inparticular...

And as long aswe are disscussing the FAQ, how can a thread have -1 posts? I noticed that a day or two ago...

You dont need to pull the tranny with the engine, not unless you plan on working on the tranny too... If its an auto, then you just pull the inspection plate off the tranny and rotate the crank by hand at that pully to get all of the torque converter bolts (4-6 depending on tranny) and then the engine will slide right out once the motor mounts and bell housing bolts are out,, I used a lift plate attached to my intake ,, it was really easy to do, and I did it by myself. Just support the tranny with a spare jack..
