Complete Re-wire??
So I bought a COMPLETE painless wiring kit for my 65. Looks a lil harder than I thought....anyone ever done this before themselves?? Do you know where I could take my car to get this done, and how much would it cost?
I did a rewire a couple weeks ago and used the painless system. It was amazing. The wire is zip tied at the specific locations needed. It does appear over welming at first, but as you start to run wire after wire, it will be easy. Mount your fuse block in a close location to the original ans run your rear lines back. The main harness plugs in and works its way across the dash. If you have the bezel off it is right in front of you (Easier if you remove your steering wheel. Each compenent breaks off where it should. Feel free to ask questions if you need help. Like I said it is fresh in my mind. I finished the enine section last week. All I am missing is the distis wires because my disti cap was too big for a high rise manifold.
I usually went out for 2 hours a night *8-10 (I have small kids). It took about a week. Like I said start at the beginning of the fuse block and work your way out. For instance wire your cluster up first. It will just snap into the connector on the main harness when its complete. You could even take the two harnesses that go to the engine and hook them up and send them through the firewall to get them out of the way. As you start checking things off it will get much easier.
i bought ym complete painless system from mustangs unlimited, it was the cheapest place i could find it
i did a whole car harness and it took a few days, but it was alot easier then it appears to be, once you get the dash all up, your good, and alot of the wires, you dont need!
alot of my interior wires were for door lights and courtesy lights, which i only have a dome light
