Default Where do I find original color paint?

I have a Tahoe Turquoise 66, and I was going to keep the orginal color. I was wondering who carries the original colors? Also in a resto book I have they list a "Tahoe Turquoise Metallic" in the special exterior paint section but do not have a code, would this be a hard color to find?

Don't use these guys, www.towerpaint.com. hve used them for touch-up paint, but when I had Ol' Yeller's rear painted they screwed up the color and sent me a less than quality paint.

According to this website, Tahoe Turquoise is PPG code 12745. From what I can tell, it is a rare color but shouldn't be any more difficult to reproduce than the other colors.

FWIW, I just had an original color mixed from the PPG code and it looks just as I expected it.

I found one site "TCPGlobal.com. They list an original color chip chart from Ford and it runs for about 140$ a gallon. I would love to get the metallic but they didn't list it.

140 bux for a good gallon of PPG sounds about right for a quality paint.

Are you planning on painting it yourself or having a shop do it? If it is a shop, tell them the code and to becertain to use PPG (good quality brand) and you should be good to go. My advice would be to have the shop acquire their own paint so that if there are any problems it is between them and the supplier.

I've seen enough instances of people bringing their own gears and lockers to installers only to have problems which would've never occurred if they stayed out things. Unfortunately, it is easy to be shortsighted and look for the cheapest prices of the pieces rather than the total cost.

Good luck!

Be careful befor you order.
I have a 66 Coupe GT . It is Tahoe Turquose also.
It is paint code "U".
The metalic Tahoe turquoise was a "Special Order Paint"
Check your Data Plate and see what the code is.
Let me know
Hope this helps

You can also get an original paint chip chart and have the color scanned. They pop up on ebay all the time.

Autocolor in Marietta, Georgia can match anything. Probably any large city will have an automotive paint supplier like them. They say that you can't go by auto manufacturer's color names. They check their old reference books for your year to find the cross-reference to paint manufacturer's numbers. For example, PPG sold the same paint to Ford as Wimbledon White and to Chryslerwhich usedanother name.
