Transmission Lines Install
I am at the point of installing my new transmission line and I have come to the conclusion I should have done this before I dropped the engine/tranny. They are preformed so I am assuming I must remove the cross member and maybe even a steering arm. Has anybody done this recently? I have a 65 fastback with a 289 automatic. Thanks
You should be able to 'snake' the tubes in with the engine and transmission in place and without removal of any other items, crossbar, suspension, etc. Keep in mind, the lines go near the top of the oil pan and have a bracket that is attached to the block at the battery ground bolt (or stud - sometimes).

Mine connect at the bottom of the radiator. The ones I took out from from next to the oil pan and below the fan to the radiator..???
The starter and oil pan are so close to the cross bar and steering that hits hard to smake through. I would go from the top but they go below the tri Ys so thats not really an option either.

Somehow you did not list all the conditions for your car. With headers you have crossed into the 'dark side'. It's up to you as the best way now. Remove what you need to get access, ar 'bend' away.

I did the 67 a few months ago. Removing the crossmember does make it easier as well as the tranny crossmember. I had a line that attached to the transmission located directly above the tranny crossmember so I opted to remove it for ease of installation. The hard one to get to was the one located closer toward the engine, higher up. Got them off easy, but getting them on was another story. Oh I have a C6 by the way.
