well .. i havent gotten to selling the other car .. so im flat broke right now ..
and being 16 with no job ..
spending money on heads just aint gonna happen .
all these things are happening withing my low budget from money i had saved up over the summer .. im su re i have enough to get that intake and carb .
maybe even the cam ... i cant handle a 400 horses project yet until i have my job.
for now i just need something to keep me rolling above 300 horses.

You can always try to find GT40 heads in a junkyard. Just look for a 93-up 5.0 Cobra or a V8 Explorer, 97-up Explorersare GT40P heads which require different headers. There are markings on the head that identify it as a GT40. Those heads will work well for someone on a budget
well im already going to take in the other heads .
as for everything else .
do you think a stock crank and connectors with 70's heads a $200 buck cam, edel.. performer intake and holley carb . will knock me over 300?

Stock crank/rods will be fine for what you're doing right now. A cam will help, but you'll need a good one. Youmay be able to get 300 out of it, even with crappy stock heads. Don't expect any marvel of power productionthough.
yeah i understand ...
theres too much on my hands right now .. and my project doesnt come first yet .
im stuck with an import until i get my project rolling ,.
how about a link to a cam?

Look for a cam with like a 1,500-5,000rpm range or thereabouts. With stock heads you're not gonna breathe much past 5,000rpm, so pick a cam that doesn't go beyond that, and you'll make good bottom end torque and it'll drive nice. An off the shelf Comp/Crane/Isky etc will work fine, go for whichever you can get at the best price. A roller conversion cam would be a bit pricier but a better bet in the long run, no break in or wear and it'll run way better, but may be out of your price range. So if you go with a standard flat tappet make sure you follow the cam break in procedure.
Getting rid of the 8:1 compression ratio and the tiny cam are the biggest boosts to the '72+ engines that were choked down. You can make a pretty healthy 351 with the stock heads, just do some porting work. The small valves will keep you low in the RPM band, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. With a blue-printed and balanced engine, you'll have a built in rev limiter and the engine would last pretty much forever.
Comp Cams is a good company that I've had good luck with.
