What exactly do you have so far? What are your goals with the engine? What kind of drivability do you want? Mileage? How much do you want to spend?

get a used performer intake from edelbrock used or new, used holley carb,
and just work a nice exhaust system .
Heads would make a large difference , but your looking to spend a good chunk of money, and i think you can put 351 heads on there .. so i would slap some of those on for major power.

and keep it at a good mpg

im 16 and man .. i have so much work ahead of me..

the trick to it is ... Buy an import , and you dont have to worry about gas ,, just use your stang for ummm SDD.

usually heads were generically interchangeable with the 302 because they almost had the same block , but umm i would suggest asking the older memebers when it comes to specs of the engine , im new at this too but im gathering knowledge as i go ,
Im selling a completed stang and so my new project wont be here for a while .
I will get you some pics if you stick around soon, i live in cali and so its hard making a living out here, but umm i will get you some pics of a project im working on with my bro , we bought it today, so ill have pics like next week,

You cant just bore a302 to a 347, it requires a different crank, rods and pistons. If you dont plan to spend alot of money, headers, performer intake with a 570 avenger and a little steeper gear. 3.55 or so would be good. Stick or auto?

351 heads on a 302 no problem. The only thing is the year of the heads, you might have to plug up the exhaust ports in the back of the heads that were used for the smog pump on newer engines.

Sounds like you are off to a good start already. Have any pictures of the engine? Do you know what cam is in it? Who built it?

Before anyone can really recommend improvements, we need to know exactly what you have. Otherwise any recommendations may be a step backwards. If you are building a daily driver I would caution against going too radical with the engine. An engine that hardly idles, gets 5 miles per gallon, and doesn't make any power until 3000 RPM isn't all that fun to live with on the street.

Some good pictures of the engine with the air cleaner off would answer a lot of questions.
