its 4 lug all around .. and i have a brake problem ...

I have to just about jam in my foot to the floor to get that baby to stop ...

it has really tired me out already and i need to know whats wront with it ..

do i need new brakes or do you think its the umm master cylinder?

Yes.
Replace them all.
The master cylinder in my 66 hardtop had about a teaspoon of fine silt in it after 40 years of faithfull service.

and you answer with yes .. i was kinda hoping it was one or the other .. so i take it yes means both

Yeah, Jim is short winded, but what he initially said is true. Now is a good time to consider replacing the shoe brake system with the pad system.

These are 40 year old cars. They are not worry free. When you buy a classic Mustang, assume that you will need to rebuild or replace everything. The difference between a brand new 'worry free covered by a manufacturer's warantee something or other four wheel thingie' anda Mustang is you. Enjoy doing the work.
