cowl ?

Default cowl ?

this my be a stupid question but what does the cowl do for my mustang what is its purpose... i was looking at mustangsunlimited catalog and saw cowl cover... and thought to myself if you can cover them... then why do you need them

The cowl is known for leaking, that's why you saw a cover for it.

It pulls air in coming across your hood and sends it throgh vents to cool your feet while driving.

When Ford put this assembly together,they forgot to paint it. It is very common for these to rust out. They go first, then the pans. There is about 170 spot welds to cut out if you fix this properly. Put some paint on it if you do the repair. The cover will work as a stopgap measure and buy time, but is not the true fix.Good thing is,it will keep your feet dry untill a proper repair can be made.

It also allows cool air into the heater so you get warm air to you and the defroster.

when i did mine i put undercoating in there for extra protection, it actuall looks pretty good

390 id try taking the vent tube thing off under the drivers side have someone use a air hose in the vent blowing it to you using a shop vac. most aftermarket heat/air units dont use the cowl vent so you can weld it shut.

i dont have air or heat well not yet but ill try that way to clean it out
