What was the original engine color on my 65 coupe with a 289?It orange now......dosent look right.....

 

it should be red!

 

Did the have red engines in 65? I think its supposed to be blue, I know my stock color is Ford Blue

yeah the 289 where red and the 302's where blue but in 65 the only v-8 in a mustang was a 260 and a 289 and they where both red i think??[sm=smiley24.gif]

 

Stock 1965 289 was Blue. I dont think there were any red engines in 65 or 66. I think it was either Blue or black. Not completley sure though, ill have to check the book

 

Red was used on the inline 6 cylinder, light blue on the V8 260cid valve covers and air cleaner on a '65. Ford BLue as it came to be known wasnt used until several years later, I am not sure of the exact date. They tried several blue colors before deciding on Ford Blue. THe High po 289 heads were painted black with a chrome air cleaner and chrome valve covers,

1965 Mustang 289 engine is painted black...........

 

1965:

Red/orange for six bangers.
Black for v8

 

Early 65 289's were black the rest were blue. I dont remember the dates to define early but I will check and let you know

 

i thought they came in red to??? when i got my stng the motor was red??
