Default Interior Correctness Question

Hey guys. First post here. I have a '66 convertible that I am in the process of restoring to near-original condition. The interior is basic parchment. I have a couple questions:

1. Should the dashpad be parchment as well?
2. What about the carpet color?
3. And finally, what color should the top be?

Thanks in advance for your replies!

First - welcome. I recomend you get a copy of 'How To Restore Your Mustang' by Larry Dobbs, that has the answers to your specific questionsplus much more. The answers are more detailed than can be spelled out here.

Thanks Jim - I'm a Jim too. I'm pretty sure I have that book, will have to verify this evening. I guess my biggest concern is does the interior code dictate all parts of the interior (and in my case the top) or was it possible to have parchment seats, doors etc. with say black carpet, dashpad and top? I'm still going back-and-forth as to what extent I want to keep things correct but this issue continues to bug me!!

The stangs I have seen with whitee or parchment interior had black carpet and a black dashpad. I believe that wouldbe sorrect. I have never seen a stang with a parchment dash orcarpet.

Correction, I just saw one with parchment and a tanish carpet. But still black dash.

I was vague in my first reply for one reason - if you don't know - you don't know. There are seven different combination for parchment interiors, and two different top colors. What you have seen is someone elses 'concept'. The key is in the door data tag for interior and exterior colors.

First off, I'm new here, so this is my first post.
I have a 66 coupe that I'm in the process of restoring. The interior appears to be the original and is parchment w/ ivy gold trim. The dash pad is black and what's left of the carpet is ivy gold, but I'm sure the trim options came in different combos as opposed to just parchment. I need to get a copy of that book myself.

Another - welcome. Most of the mail order store have that book and that brings up another point, get some catalogs. National Parts Depot http://www.npdlink.com/Virginia Classic Mustang www.virginiaclassicmustang.com and Texas Mustang Parts http://www.texasmustang.com/to name a few. Consider subscribing to Mustang Monthly as well.
