1967 Seat Belts
My next project is putting seat belts back into my 1967 coupe. I was looking at some of my restoration manuals and it looks like the 3-point seat belt were an option in 1967. Does this mean that all 1967 coupes have the mounting bracket for the shoulder belt? My headliner is in great shape and I can't feel any bolt holes under there. Does anyone know exactly where they should be? Are these tapped bolt holes or is there a nut that goes with the bolt? Is there anyway to know if the bracket are there without tearing into the headliner? And my last question is: Has anyone bought the three point seat belts from NPD and are they happy with them?
Larry.
Larry.
The shoulder belt was a factory option in 1967 but not too many people ordered it. There is a slot for a special 3/8-16 nut plate in the body over the door, around the rear edge of the door window. The nut plate is not available in the aftermarket. The lower belt latch was identical to the lap belt. You could use a 68 shoulder belt and make up a nut plate, but to fit it would require the headliner to be 'temporarily' undone.
