Vent window rivet tool ...
... works as advertised. While I wasn't thrilled about spending $100 for a tool to secure 10 original style rivets, it worked great and I won't have any regrets later. To put the cost in perspective, I spent nearly that much money at the Dodger game yesterday on beers, dogs, peanuts and parking.
So, if somebody wants to replace their seals (you pretty much have to take the windows apart), drop me a PM. All I ask is for shipping and to try to have it back within a week or so.

Got any pics?? I'm interested into what peice these rivets are on and what it looks like. Also got a pic of the tool? I'm just curious, I know my mach didn't have any vent window rivets.
The vent window tool is for 64-66 years only. From 67, Ford used a different type of attachment. Note: the rivets supplied with the weatherstripping are clear zinc plated. Ford usedphosphated rivets, a dark color, to 'hide' them in the weatherstrip material. They are available from NPD.

Jim,
Are the clear zinc plated rivets dark? I guess when I think of zinc plating I think of gold. The rivets that came from my new seals are dark, similar in color to the 'rusted' ones that were removed.
FWIW, the divider bar vent window seal had an official Ford licensed sticker on it. The top vent sealsare some Pro Products brand that I've had sitting around for years. The replacement rivet for the top seal is cromed so that it matches the window frame. Either way, everything went together well and I look forward to a leak free seal.

Jeff,
(Second try - system went south on me.)
Clear zinc is silver looking (the -S8 suffix on Ford part numbers). Gold zinc (-S36) is just that, gold looking. An example of -S8 are the hex head screws holding the center and ends of the grill to the body. An example of -S36 are the four washers under the bolts holding the rear bumper brackets to the body in the trunk. There is also black zinc and it is sharp.
Phosphating leaves a light gray to brown finish on steel, phosphate and oil (-S2) leaves a dark gray to black finish on steel. Examples are the fender bolts on 64 to 67 and some 68 cars.
I'm fixing a perrennial roof leak in my patioroof but the vent weatherstripping on my 65 Fastback and my 66 hardtop are 'next'.
