rear end mixup
Ok so I have spent the last 2 weeks prepping my car for a new axle, I went and got an 8.8" out of a '92 explorer with a 3.73 gear ratio. Awesome find right? WRONG turns out the 8.8" (51 1/4") is 3" shorter than my previous axle which was from my '67 coupe (54 1/4") Is there any way I could correct this problem or am I completely screwed? I was thinking about using spacers but they would only be on one side of the car. Not my 1st choice. The good thing is I havent ordered my rims yet, so I can still change that decision if I need to. Will anything on the new rims help the stance of the car so it doesn't look stupid ( such as offset, backspacing, etc)?
If I have to swap this out is there anyone out there with a ford 9" handy?

Ya I am seriously thinking about selling it now. But I got it at a junkyard real cheap ($150) so I'm gunna sell it on ebay for more, since I rebuilt it and fabbed it up, then hopefully buy a 9" from perogie, I heard they are cheap and very nice.
