Default valve lash again

Ok my valve train is making the ticking noisesand so I though ok valve lash again, so checked the lash like the method in how to rebuild small block fords by tom monroe and everthing is fine. But when starting samenoiseso either I have not tightened enough or could I have a deeper problem? I will re-check the valve lash as the way in FAQ later in the week. Any ideas what else it could be?

Does the tick go away after it's warm? If so, no problem, just a little loose.

Do you have screw in studs or the stockers? The stockers will push out of the head with a larger than stock cam...

I believe the cam is stock as are the arms which are stud mounted.

Most likely your rockers are worn, therefore they need to be tightened a tad more than factory specs.

Yeah, that'll work if you can find some old valve covers to cut up.

I have one of those special valve covers. I still lose oil, but not as bad.

BTW, the stock torque spec of 20lb-ft would still apply. You don't have adjustable rockers, so cutting a valve cover won't help you much.
