You can use a billet spacer and remove the egr valve, and theres a plug that you can get at fordfuelinjection.com that will stop the idiot light. I think if you already havent visit JamesW's
website at http://www.midnightdsigns.com/james/its a wealth of info.

With a healthier cam than recent OE, you can get a little more natural EGR just because there's more overlap time (and on average a bit more lift on each valve during it). Adding a full OE dose on top of that might be too much anyway. IIRC, the LT4 'Vettes relied on natural EGR with cams of slightly different specs than the LT1's rather than use aseparate EGR circuit.

If you wanted to experiment a bit, adding a reduced amount of EGR is likely to actually increase your gas mileage slightly. Maybe something that you could manually switch on/off . . .

Actually leaving the EGR on can increase fuel mileage, by 1-2 mpg. and it doesnt hurt ultimate performance as the computer shuts it out at WOT.

At the time I did mine it was just easier to get down to the simplest compoments, and cutting down the EGR spacer to 3/8in left just enough to mount the throttle linkage to, and made more room between the air intake horn & the shock tower.

I removed the EGR valve on my car by using a spacer that fordfuelinjection.com recommended (I have his harness and it is top notch. Removes all the unnecessary junk from the engine! ). The big benefit I saw for getting rid of my egr valve was the additional clearance with the shock tower. I was able to fit a C&L inlet tube in there for a few additional ponies.
