Default EFI Mods ?

So I was wondering what are some standard mods you would make to a 90-92 302 HO EFI

Is everything basically the same from a carbed engine ?

Can you still stroke that sucker just as well ?

They're the same internally, the only difference is induction. An engine is an engine.

underdrive pulleys, adjust timing, bypass or block off the hot water tubes that warm up the throttle body. make sure the throttle opens all the way. adjust the... I forgot what the thing is called... its a little meter with 2 screws and sits on top of the throttle body...re-adjust the meter to give better throttle response (i work on too many car with carbs).

after those things, then a cam swap to an E-303/ F-303 cam

In addition to those mods the normal stuff like larger injectors, larger throttle body, larger mass air meter with free flowing inlet pipe, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, air filter, higher voltage coil and there are electronic performance upgrades you can do that go between the wiring and the computer. Of course you have all internals, heads, intake .......... virtually everything you can do to a carb'd engine plus.

What the others have suggested, though if you eliminate the air pump, PS pump (&A/C) Short belting takes the place of underdrives.
I'm in the process of doing a series of budger up grades, with the goal of a high torque street engine. These are known good relatively cheap mods-65mm TB, 70mm MAF, Jacobs electronic ignition(Mallory may be a better choice), JBA headers(there is a wide range of header choices, depending on tranny, R&P), Exploder(Explorer) GT-40 intake, port match intake/heads & relieve EGR bump on E7's. These mods will get you toward the 300HP range, & close to needing 24lb injectors.
Other wise Torque & HP cost money, How fast do Ya wanna go??

if I was going to put an EFI in my classic mustang I'd get one of those kits that makes it look like it is still carbed with the round air filter up top...or I'd get one of the kits that looks like webbers up on top.

I believe you can remove the EGR because on my 1990, it went 3-5yrs with a broken one and never had a problem (other than a check engine light that blinked under acceleration).

Hmm that gives me something to think about

I would hate to go EFI and worry about EGR And the power surge .

be sure to double check with someone before you attempt to do an EGRless setup. It may have just been my ERG SENSOR that was bad, not the EGR itself. I don't remember and I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but you should double check before you make too many plans.

Also, theres a PCV valve up next to the ERG and I believe you DO want to keep it. I had one go bad on my 86 mustang andthe enginewould hardly run until I replaced it.
