Open Headers??

I had open headers on my 289 for 1 day and it was LOUD!!! But also consider if its somewhat cold out at night and all you have is open headers.....when you shut it off some of that cold air might do damage to the motor (bent valve??) or so I've been told......just something to consider
The concern is for burnt valves. Not much of a problem with longtube headers but wouldn't run open exhaust manifolds.

I drove my 289 to the exhaust shop with open headers, and it was loud, but not as bad as i feared. I would not want to drive it much that way. the guy that owned the shop said he heard me coming a mile away.
