so me and some buddys got to bs'n about my coupe andI found a deal 500 bucks for a cleveland with a auto trans. they all say i need to keep it stick but i need more then a 3 speed. the engine needs a rebuild so would the tranny but i think its a hell of a deal. (being a student dont have much cash so ill settle for an auto) but if i was to get it i would put a shift kit in it. but i hear that the auto trans can not have over drive for it beable to have a shift kit. is that true? I plan on takin to car to college when graduate 1,500 miles from alaska to the lower 48 so I want to have over drive. so the question is can i have bolth overdrive and an shift kit?

 

yes you can.

 

if you use a aod aode 4r70w im using a aod with a manual valve body i still gotta shift it but the overdrive is there its just another gear with a raito i froget for it to be a overdrive. if you want a cheap stick thats a overdrive look in to a t5

 

If it's a 351c, it wont have an overdrive trans. As far as I know anyway. And make sure it's a 351c and not a 351m. It would probably be cheaper to convert the 3spd to a 5spd then it would to find an AOD and rebuild it.. plus having to set up the TV cable to work with the carb. No clue what flexplate you'd need.
