Default 69 windsor head question

I have a set of 69 351 windsor heads and I need to know what size stud it comes with and I thought that the classic section guys would be able to help me out.

rocker stud? they are 5/16 threads. make sure your using hardened ex seats or your gonna pound the seats outta the heads, and get rid of the bumps in the ex port (you can completely remove them, plenty of meat there). they are great FoMoCo heads for a 289/302/351

If your using them on a 289/302 you'll need the stepped washers for 7/16 head bolts. The headds are drilled for the 1/2 bolts a 351 uses. Though ARP & Edelbrock also make them, IIRC the ones from Trickflow have the best price.

Yea sorry rocker studs

5/16? so in order to get after market rockers i would need to buy 7/16 or 3/8 studs and get my heads machined for them right? Or does someone make the size I need for the 5/16? I haven't seen that size listed anywhere so?

well my77 was right they are 5/16 so I need to buy aftermarket screw in studs and pushrod guide plates in order to use roller rockers right?

I was looking at these studs

and these guideplates

is this what i need?

your right on the money, and i like those guideplates cause where the pushrod rides the plates are bent so there is a larger contact area (should help with wear). that being said, you can get the rocker arm studs cheaper by going with an ARP so your not paying for the ford name. ARP is probably making the ford studs anyways, as they are the leader in all automotive fasteners.

I couldn't find any arp ones for a ford application so I thought the ford racing ones were the next cheapest. My machine shop quoted me at 200-250 in machining costs does that sound about right?

250 would seem a little high to me, but everyone seems to be getting higher and higher priced over the last few years. btw pulling the studs is a pain in the ***, so there is def. some labor involved.

whats the word on hard ex seats installed or getting installed?
