Default cam question

would this be too much cam for my forged 2bbl headed cleveland?

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...25%2D4&FROM=MG it's a 280H if you dont feel like opening it

or would i be better off sticking to the 268H?

if neither of these are desirable, all information from fellow cleveland builders would be great!

thanks

it's in a 73 mach with 26" tall tires and 3.50 rear end. higher compretion but not sure, full length headers... i'll change springs and stall if needed. but it's going to be just a weekender with some trips to the track

you NEED the springs with this cam, but it would be an excellent choice for you 2bbl C

(im guessing you have a 4bbl intake intake made for 2bbl heads and a decent carb in the 650 range)

yes, edelbrock performer. matching dual plane aluminum manifold. what springs would match up and take it to 6000 rpm range without having to maching the heads to have them fit in the seat?

comp should have a recommended park number. as long as they are single springs or single springs with a dampener they should work without machining - i doubt they would be requiring anything massive in OD.

i'd shoot for about 120-130 lbs of seat pressure. i have 120 on my .500 lift flat tappet and its been spun to 7k without float

We put a "comp cams "HR282" in my sons truck, IMO it is very drivable. It is very similar to the cam you listed.
