A stock converter would last just fine, but you will be slow "out of the hole" with your camshaft selection. You don't really reach peak performance until 2,000 RPM, I would advise a converter with about a 2,500 stall. We used this on my son's truck it works well and is still drivable for a daily driven vehicle. It would probably get out of the hole better with a 3,000 stall, but life is full of compromise!!

If your 351 Cleveland is the same as mine you'll need a set of .060" shims to reach the right seat pressure with the CCA 972-16 valve springs. The installed height should be 1.860" on the Cleveland. These should work:

The first springs you listed probably wouldn't fit because the have too small of an I.D. Your springs should be a 1.4" OD which is what the CCA 927-16 springs are even though Summit lists them as 1.460. They should work with your stock retainers...It's a pretty easy swap. If you have pedestal mount rockers like I do, I recommend replacing the rocker bolts while you do the swap as well. They are 5/16-18 bolts that are 1-1/4" long.

I think the Cam you chose will work pretty good with the 2-V cleveland motor. A little bit of porting (at least port matching) will really help those out too...

FYI if you need shims (probably because opie used the stock retainers?!?!) and your springs have the dampener on them (flat spring looking thing) make sure you get hardened shims. the regular silver/copper colored ones will get chewed all to hell by the dampener. i am actually thinking about taking the dampeners out of mine cause i dont want the trash floating around in the motor.

Contact Comp and see if they have a Beehive that works, it's a single spring. You prolly don't wanna remove the dampener from a spring setup just on the off chance you might get harmonics and break a spring. 2,000-6,000 would be fine for a daily driver or an occasional weekend car. You might wanna look into getting an Extreme Energy series cam. 750cfm is bigger than you need, it'd run quicker on the street, and possibly even the track, with a 650-675. And yeah, it'll run quicker with a converter
