so i was going to buy another mustang today. 66 couple. for 9K. it ran like **** thought and the paint was cheap. but he turned on the car without stepping on the gas. he told me he had an electric ignition or something like that. does MSD or any other company have any kits that come with everything i need to have an electirc ignition or w/e.

Many will disagree with me, but I like the HEI setups, One wire hookup, built in coil, affordable (read cheap) and repair parts in stock at every parts store in America....

It is cheap, and yes the car starts without giving it any gas, and right now....

The components used in this distributor were used on all GM cars and trucks from 1974 through like about 1992... Very reliable, powerfull, and capable up to about 7.000 RPM.

That is it, except that you will probably need new plug wires that will fit on the male terminals on the dist cap....

After thinking about this, I am not sure ifit will work with your stock Ford tachometer (if you have one).

The system is 100% self contained, coil is included.

You will however need to run a new ignition power wire because the stock wire is a "resistor wire" designed to reduce voltage to the stock coil. You will have to do this with any electronic system.

most carbed cars will start without stepping on the gas if its set up properly, it has nothing to do with the ignition

+1

Although electronic ignition will help with reliable starts, and you can get a Pertronix unit for relatively cheap. No reason to replace your entire distributor.

Be careful with the HEIs because they will not work on all manifolds. I originally purchased one to run on a high rise but it was too large (Diameter). I ended up upgrading to an electronic ignition and a MSD box. Very happy
