I have been asking some of the same questions lately. The conclusion I have arrived at from the responses is that it is better to buy sheet metal that is made in the USA or Canada. Many good vendors have been mentioned, but NPD consistently comes up. NPD lists the gauge of most of there sheet metal. Another piece of good advice I have seen is it is better if you can go and see the product in person. I know not everybody is fortunate enough to have a vendor within driving distance.

I would assume that the body parts that say "made with Ford tooling" are superior. Can anyone comment on that?

Last year I bought both replacement doors from Ponderosamustang, close to me in Pensacola, Fl. Matt is great to work with, and agreed to take the repop doors back if I was dissatisfied. They are both on the car now and fittment is very good, much better than a repop door I purchased a number of years ago. The doors are, off shore Mfgr, "Golden Horde" is the Manufacturer. The metal is thinner than US doors, but they fit real nice.
Matt is a one man operation, and takes pride in his little company 1 850 857 1084 give him a try.

I bought a Ford tooling front fender from NPD, fit perfect. While a friend bought a cheap one, and said it was a headache from the start.

I bought a trunk lid for my 67/ the fit was good. I got it fron NPD. The dissapointment was the little red tag stuck on the under side that said made in Tiawan.
