Default interior metal cleaning???????

What is the best way to remove the gooon the doors and factory seam sealer so I can prep for primer. The goo holds the plastic to the door behind the door panel is real soft.
Short of media blasting I am lost, a wire wheel just spreads this gunk around, and brake cleaned won’t touch it. What has everyone else done or used?
Thanks

The tar like caulking material is intended to hold & cushionthe small parts, working as an anti-rattle agent. Leave it alone. If you've successfull removed a lot of it, Rope caulk from a paint & body supply is used to replace it.

I used a small putty knife to easily remove the soft sealer crap behind my door panels and interior quarter panels. The guys on the production line must have been trigger happy that day cuz I found it all over the trunk floor and the back seat framework.

I used a wire cup brush on a die-grinder. I had to wipe up the "dust" with lacquer thinner after I had all the heavy stuff removed with the grinder though.....

Thanks for the tips, the puty knife works wonders, but that GOO is a pain. Scraped most off with the knife and grinded some sand in the goo by hand and finished the removal.
