Can canybody tell me what a complete 289/302 weighs compared to a 390?

 

460lbs for the 302, 625 for the 390 apparently...can anyone confirm?

 

I don't know but IF you're looking for a anchor for your boat, thechevy 396ci works real well!

 

That sounds about right for all stock components. You can shave off quite a bit with aluminum parts. On an FE the intake alone weighs 50 pounds.

i was relating this to nassaubaymans spring problem...i think the po put big block springs in the front of his car.
he's been doing some simulations with jacts etc to see the effect of a change front or rear has on the other end of the car...now suggested he adds a 165lb person to the front and measures again

 

625 is how much a stock 390 weighs but if non stock can weigh less mines around 550 i think

 

FWIW, my Ford Racing crate motor said 450# on the shipping label so I would assume the engine, sans intake manifold, carb and headers, weighs closer to 400#.

 

nothing wrong with a 396 the 348 and 409 was junk. ford those weights sound about right just remember stock those engines had alot of cast iron parts.
