Default oil leak

hey guys...my buddy juss put a new engine in his 66 coupe... an hes kinda like me knows a lil bit...but im curious if you guys could help us... well he was drviving it barely the first day and there was il dripping down under the engine... so i got underneath and it was like drippin on top of the starter and al;so running down where the engoine and tranny connect...then when it got cold..i ran my hands through in and around the headers and the heads and under the valve covers...and it was slimy like a bit wet of oil.....so i thought maybe the valve covers werent on tight. and the bolts that held down the vavle covers were really short..like only two threds held em and they would come off..so we got longer bolts and exchanged them all and put on the rubber gasket and closed it tightly..not to tight but juss right..and it stil leaks wen he runs it only..,,. what could it be? also..it tends to get a bit over heating issue..

What's he using for a valve cover gasket? Often times valve covers are warped and will leak if you're just using a cork gasket. FelPro makes a really nice silicone covered metal gasket that will snug down nice and stop leaks. A little higher, but it's reuseable and worth it.

What's it doing regarding overheating?
