Help me to decide which 70 keep

Default Help me to decide which 70 keep

Here is my dilema. I own a 70 Sportsroof 302, AT, air that I planned on keeping for quite a while and have dumped a lot of money int on quality parts. Some of the things I've done include:

1. 3.4 Traction Lock 3rd memeber (8')
2. New Cragers all around & BF around
3. All new suspension including rear springs &roller perches, export brace
4. New Holley
5. New floor Pans and trunck floors
6. All new interior including all chrome pieces and bezel lenses
7. Misc Engine stuff - 100 amp alt, wiend water pump, msd ready to run,
8. All new stainless lines
9. Hooker ceramic and magnaflows
10. Complete brake rebuild - power brakes
11. New windshield
12. Hood tach

Bunch other misc. Kind of embarrased to admit but got close to 20k into car now. Still need to have to replace cowl- have a nice oneoff a donor now, would reskin doors, and lower qtrs to get rid of bondo - then repaint. Paint is presentablenow (5 footer) - just would like to take to next level. Also, was thinking about dropping ford racing motor in for a little more oomph. Was going more down restomod path.


In any case just bought a nice 1970 m code mach 1 for $12.5k - could not resist.AT, manual brakes. No fold down or shaker. Body, floor, frame rails redone.Very nice job - guy was a welder by trade. For most part all new metal put in.Suspension, and alot of interioralready done. Cowl fine - did water test (learned my lesson on that one). No body work needed at all. Seller claims car has 79k original miles is all number matching. Engine and tranny never rebuilt -shift fines - a little smoke on startup. Suspension rebuilt, no oil leaks. If I kept I would freshen up engine, tranny, and replace windshield and some of interior parts (chrome pieces and bezels). New springs and leafs, magnaflow and maybe a good set of headers. Keep original looking though.

Here is my dilema - which one do I sell - I'm sure I can make a few bucks off the Mach and I'm pretty sure I'll never get close to 20k I have invested in the sportsroof if I decide to sell it. In either case I'd guess I need about 10k to get either car looking the way I want it. I'll post some picks this weekend but description I gave are pretty accurate and I'm on the picky side.

So what do you think? BTW wife won't let me keep both.

I would sell the original car. 1) you are right that you won't get what you put into it. 2) The Mach one is more desirable and better for future value. 3) You should be able to sell the sprtsroof for more than the Mach 1 and make about the same amount of money but have a better investment. Of course I would also limit the restomod approach on the Mach 1 since it is more desirable as an original. If you do anything mod-ish, make certain that it is reversable.

What you've already sunk into the original car is a moot point. Which car do you like the best? If the Mach 1, sell the other and take your bath. If the original car, sell the Mach 1 and enjoy a profit.

The Mach 1 will appreciate faster than the Sportsroof, so that's what I'd go with if you can't decide based on which you like better.

Ok,she won't let you keep both. How about keep both cars and get a new wife?Well,which one do you like the most? Personally,I would go for the mach and put the sportsroof on ebay and let the public fight over it. Either way you will end up with a cool car. BTW,the wife thing was a joke[8D]
