Intermittent wipers, cruise control
Ok guys here is your chance to blast me. As I have said I am not a purist. Yes, I still refuse to cut out the stereo and replace it with DIN but I am still not a purist. I actually upgraded the car to Halogen today. I also ordered a 130 amp alternator. I got in my mustang OEM gas cap and I was so excited. I even said no to my wife when she asked me for attention. This car is going to ruin my marriage. But back to the issue. I live in wet wet wet south Texas where it rains every single week. This fast and faster wiper thing is not going to get it. Does anyone have a source to convert these over to intermittent and keep it looking original? How about the cruise control. There is really no where to mount one on the steering column. Did any of you install one that looks good and works well. I plan on driving this care an average of 15K a year so I needs cruise. Any advice other then drop dead would be appreciated.
Well I found a cruise that looks like stock but real expensive. $285 to be exact. Still looking for the intermitten wiper thing but I have some good leads.
look up the factory crusie control some early mustangs had it not sure anyone remakes it but talk to http://www.perogie.com/ he has alot of great used parts and new old stock
For a variable wiper you can pull a switch assembly from ford f-150, 250 and 350 trucks from 1977 -1991 or 1978-1991 Broncos. Not all of these vehicles had the variable option, it usually came with the higher optioned models. You can tell if it has the variable switch by trying to turn the wiper switch counter-clockwise from the off position. If it won't rotate, its not variable. Just pull the switch with the attached wireing. It willhave a short wire loom that goes to a resistor (I think its a resistor) this is attached, you will need this and a 4 wire bunch that goes to the wiper motor. This will wire into your 4 wires that go to your 2 speed wiper motor. The switch should bolt into the stock location. It will still have the two speed option by rotating clockwise or you can adjust the time interval by rotating counter clockwise. This can be hooked up to an 67-69, 2 speed wiper motor.
