Well was it a base/clear or single coat? One other thing, post some darn pictures so we can see what it looks like.

3M makes a product called Imperial Hand Glaze. Safely shines fresh paint. Good stuff, odd name....

I would a minumum of 90 days or even 120 days before I would wax . You might want to try Trutle Wax Ice

I had a new hood painted and installed with base and clear coat, polished everything is done. My body shop guy said to wait at least a month to wax it and then just "wax the $hit out of it".

Some of you have recommended 60-90 days or longer... What do you think would happen if I were to wax it now? (It has been about 5 weeks now...)

Like stated above, wait 90 days then do this:

Using Griot's "Speed Shine" as a lubricant, clean the paint with Griot's clay bar.
(just trust me...this is the best way to prep new or old paint for wax)

Then wax it using Meguiar's "Gold Class" wax. (best over-the-counter wax for the money)

Repeat process every 4 to 6 months. Maintain with Speed Shine or any liquid detail wax.

This paint is over 5 years old and driven almost daily with no covered parking at work:
